Relieving pain and saving infected or inflamed teeth.

Overview

When the soft tissue inside a tooth (the pulp) becomes inflamed or infected, it can cause severe pain or an abscess. Root canal treatment removes the affected pulp, cleans and shapes the canals and seals them, allowing you to keep your natural tooth.

Endodontics is an area of particular interest for Dr. Arash, who has helped organise the “Fundamentals of Endodontics” conference series at Kabul University of Medical Sciences.

This may be recommended when

  • Lingering pain with hot or cold
  • Pain when biting or a throbbing toothache
  • Swelling or a gum boil near a tooth
  • A deep cavity or crack reaching the nerve

What to expect

  1. 01

    Diagnosis

Examination and X-ray to confirm the cause of pain.

  2. 02

    Anaesthesia

The tooth is numbed so treatment is comfortable.

  3. 03

Infected pulp is removed; canals are cleaned and shaped.

  4. 04

    Sealing & restoring

Canals are sealed and the tooth restored, often with a crown.
